Chestnut

Alongside a team of talented co-founders, designed a pioneering new blockchain product to solve one of the biggest hurdles in mainstream adoption.

One big obstacle to widespread adoption of crypto assets is the fear users have in taking responsibility for managing and protecting their own money.

Chestnut took some of the best security practices from the traditional banking system and bridged them over to the blockchain space, With this, users could feel the same level of safety they have become accustomed to with the autonomy and transparency that blockchain offers.

Chestnut was a multi-signature, smart contract enabled "Smart Account" which helped people create a set of rules and safeguards so that their EOS account secured and automated their finances.

First conceived and pitched at the London chapter of the EOS Global Hackathon in September 2018, ‘Chestnut’ won both 1st runner up and Best UX at the event, and went on to compete as a finalist at the Cape Town Grand Finale.

What I love about this project:

  • The original idea was conceptualized and prototyped in less than 72 hours.

  • Competing in the hackathon (both in London and Cape Town) was a ton of fun.

Project Highlights:

  • The intention was for Chestnut to be deployed on EOS main net and all other sister chains that use EOSIO software; potentially even other blockchains.

  • Even though the technology didn’t develop far enough to be put to use (due to security liability at the time), it highlighted a significant problem in the industry and experimented with multiple solutions, which inspired other projects to progress.
