Everipedia

Redesign of the world’s largest English encyclopedia and the largest blockchain knowledge base.

The goal of the project was to make Everipedia more accessible to a wider audience, including those who did not have previous knowledge of blockchain technology. This was part of a broad effort to expand the Everipedia community.

We conducted an extensive research and design process, resulting in a completely overhauled platform, visual brand, messaging strategy, account creation and interaction dynamics.

Our aim was to evolve Everipedia’s participation paradigm to lead online encyclopedias into the modern age. To truly reach mass market adoption, the platform needed to be just as easy to use as conventional centralized services (like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).

Alongside this project, contributed to the design of companion platform Prediqt, a decentralized prediction market.

What I loved about this project:

  • Making a meaningful contribution to a viable alternative to Wikipedia, due to their growing centralization and censorship.

  • Deep diving into Everipedia’s community governance systems, the concept of a “knowledge market” and the future of creator economies.

  • That Everipedia was co-founded by the co-founder of Wikipedia itself.

Project highlights:

  • AP news agency published the incoming results from the Nov. 3 2020 United States presidential election onto the Ethereum and EOS blockchains using the Everipedia.

  • Front-end improvements to significantly increase speed, performance and usability. Also creating their first mobile experience.

  • Expansion into English, Mandarin, Korean and Spanish languages.

  • Notable stats: > 50,000 daily active users, 300 million historical article views (as of 2020).
